Community Impact Day

For one day each year, all the employees and partners of Strickler & Prieto, LLP work on the same client. instead of providing business consulting advice or accounting and tax services, our team members are washing, painting, caulking or anything we can to help out our community. This day is affectionately called "Community Impact Day" by employees. What we find is that the one day where our employees can participate in something that is not their normal daily client service, they really develop a camaraderie and bonding that carries over into the office atmosphere. It's all a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

We are continually searching for new opportunities to provide our services to the community. Every year we evalute and vote on which project we would like to participate in and has the greatest needs. We plan well ahead of the official impact date and will coordinate with you on your needs and devise a plan of action to maximize our time together. We'll even bring the coffee! Brad Voge - Assurance Manager

Brad Voge brings 25 years of public accounting and consulting experience primarily in the auditing area. He has experience in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, wholesaling, retail, not for profit and governmental accounting. In addition to providing external audit services, he has been involved with Sarbanes Oxley projects for publicly traded companies as well as SAS70 related projects dealing with internal controls consulting and testing.

Sandra Chiquito - State and Local Tax Manager

Sandra Chiquito has over 20 years State and Local Tax experience. Her professional experience includes 12 years working with the Texas State Comptroller of Public Accounts where she primarily conducted Texas sales and use tax audits, motor fuel, hotel tax and compliance audits, and tax research. Her experience also includes over 6 years with Big 4 accounting firms where she served as a Manager of State and Local Taxes.

Ms. Chiquito’s primary responsibilities with Strickler & Prieto LLP include State and Local tax consulting, sales and use tax refund analysis of overpayments, and State audit representation and defense services. She has also worked as a contract auditor for the State of Texas working on state tax compliance audits as assigned by the Comptroller of Public Accounts. Due to her extensive state tax experience, Ms. Chiquito is familiar with state tax compliance audit policies and procedures.

Strickler & Prieto is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Governmental Audit Quality Center and the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. By joining these Centers, we are committing to adhere to the highest quality standards by voluntarily agreeing to the Center membership requirements, which include designating a partner responsible for the quality of our governmental audit practice, establishing quality control programs, performing annual internal inspection procedures, and making our peer review report findings publicly available.

As part of our overall practice, Strickler & Prieto has submitted to the AICPA reviews of our quality control policies and procedures. As a member of the PCPS Practice Section of the AICPA Division for CPA Firms, we have successfully completed all peer reviews to date, which are conducted every three years. In addition to the external peer review, we perform an annual internal inspection of our engagements to ensure the quality of our work.

Raul D. Prieto - Taxation Partner

Raul Prieto is responsible for the firm's tax services and has over 18 years of professional domestic and international tax experience with Ernst & Young, Price Waterhouse in San Francisco and Mexico City, and over the past 10 years with KPMG in the El Paso office where he held the position of Director of Federal Tax Services. He has extensive experience with multinational clients doing business in Mexico and has served a variety of Mexican companies doing business in the U.S. and U.S., Japanese and Taiwanese companies doing business in Mexico through Maquiladora operations. He also helped clients administer their expatriate programs in Mexico and their U.S. employees working in Mexico. Raul also has worked on several multinational corporate restructuring projects and in creating joint ventures between Mexican and U.S. partners and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
